Ways to use these pages

1

Choose by the prop

Let a child pick a trumpet, teddy, unicorn, bubbles or flowers before choosing colors.

2

Color the wings twice

Use one light shade for the broad wing and a second for the feather tips where they appear.

3

Make a seasonal pair

Pair the snowman or gingerbread picture with a gift for winter, or pick two flower pages for spring.

Start with one clear shape

The sleeping angel rests on a large cloud, the seated angel has little around it, and the wand picture leaves an open background. These make good short-session choices. A child can pick a robe color first, then use a second color for wings or halo. The angel on a unicorn has two recognizable characters but still plenty of white page.

Choose a prop or scene

A trumpet, harp, bubbles, teddy bears and a star wand give children different stories to imagine. The cloud musician has notes and swirls around a small harp. The cupcake picture puts a tiny angel above decorated frosting. Ask what each angel is doing before choosing a page; the prop gives a more useful clue than the similar faces and halos.

Watch for the small spaces

Flower bouquets and baskets have many tiny petals. The large snowflake has narrow branches, while the cupcake has frosting loops and sprinkles. A fine pencil may work better than a broad crayon on those pages. The robe, wings and open background can stay lightly colored so the flowers or gift stand out. There is no need to fill every white margin.

Use the seasonal pictures when they fit

The gingerbread cookie, wrapped present and snowman can join a winter or Christmas activity. The unicorn, bubbles, cloud and flowers do not depend on a holiday. These are stylized fantasy characters; the artwork does not depict a particular religious event or tradition. A parent or teacher can choose the sheets that fit their setting without treating the whole set as a Christmas story. For another connected set, browse the nativity coloring pages.

Happy coloring!
