Ways to use these pages

1

Expression match

Choose a winking portrait and a singing frog, then describe each face before coloring.

2

Instrument accents

Give a guitar and microphone different bright shades while keeping their leafy frames related.

3

A detective clue

Finish a magnifying-glass frog and draw its imagined discovery on a separate card.

Let the face set the mood

Some frogs grin with wide open mouths, while others wink or rest a finger at their chin. Decide how that expression feels before choosing a body color. The large eye highlights can stay white, with soft color on the cheeks and chin. Leaves form a border around many portraits, giving the face a clear central space. Fine gray shading is already printed into these drawings; a light pencil layer lets that texture remain visible. Compare the faces with the broad expressions in the duck pictures for another character activity.

Give the musician a palette

Two frogs hold guitars, and another sings beside a large microphone with notes overhead. Choose a wood or bright paint color for the guitar body before moving to the strings and tuning pegs. The leaves around the musicians can repeat two greens while the instrument stays distinct. A chef holds a spoon and bowl, and a stretching frog lifts both arms above rippling water. Print two action pictures and ask which pose looks louder or quieter. Children can describe the action with a verb before filling the smaller leaf shapes.

Follow a detective or explorer

Checked hats, magnifying glasses, goggles, test tubes and a camera turn the frogs into different kinds of observers. The science characters have long narrow tubes, so a fine pencil is useful around the glass outline. Forest walkers wear boots and jackets, while the surfing frog balances above a curling wave. These pictures reward attention to small equipment and layered plants rather than a fast fill. Pair a chosen explorer with the turtle sheets and imagine what it might find near the water. A short caption can record the discovery without adding details that the drawing does not show.

Happy coloring!

Pick an expression or a prop, then use light layers to keep the frog and its leafy surroundings clear.
