These ostrich coloring pages take a long-legged bird through a dozen different little stories. One hikes between mountains, another waits beside a picnic basket, and a chef serves pancakes. There is also a wizard, a knight, a hammock nap and a guitar player. The broad bird bodies invite big color choices, while props such as basket weave, armor and guitar strings make a few pages slower.

Ways to use these pages

1

Plan an ostrich day

Put the mountain hike, pancake breakfast and guitar show in story order.

2

Match the costumes

Give the cowboy, wizard and knight one shared color in their accessories.

3

Compare bird legs

Color an ostrich and a flamingo, then notice their different feet and poses.

Take the ostrich outdoors

The mountain hiker carries a backpack between sloping ridges, so the open sky can take one sweeping color. A different bird stands on a picnic blanket next to a woven basket. By a campfire, the flames and logs make bright shapes against a calm bird body. Another ostrich stands under palm trees and rocks, and a sleepy one lounges in a hammock wearing dark sunglasses. Ask a child where each bird is spending its day. The bird coloring pages offer more beaks, wings and habitats to explore afterward.

Choose a costume or a job

A cowboy ostrich has a wide hat, neckerchief and lasso; a top-hatted bird holds a cane. The pancake chef wears a tall hat and presents a plate, while a wizard carries an open book and staff. A knight poses with a shield and sword. These props give each bird a role without covering the long neck and legs that make it recognizable. Try giving the hat, shield or chef’s coat a strong first color, then make the feathers lighter. The knight’s shield pattern and the wizard’s book pages call for a narrower pencil than the large body shapes.

Find the quicker bird

One plain ostrich stands alone with a fluffy body and little background. It is a calmer starting point than the prop-heavy characters. A bird with wings lifted has many separate feather shapes but a mostly empty sky. For a slower session, choose the picnic blanket’s check pattern, the knight’s armor or the guitar player between two microphones. The guitar strings are the smallest marks in this set. Let children choose by the kind of space they want to color, then compare their long-legged bird with a flamingo coloring page.

Tell a story across three pages

Lay the mountain hiker, pancake chef and guitar player in a row: where did the bird go, what did it eat, and what happened at the show? The scenes work as separate printables, but they can also become a short storybook. A child could use one shade for the ostrich’s feathers in every picture and change only the setting, or treat each drawing as a new character. The peacock coloring pages make a contrast when the next project is a more decorative bird tail.

Happy coloring!

Start with a scene that sparks a story, then let the ostrich’s long neck, feathers and props guide your colors.
