Ways to use these pages
Compare three grins
Set the large-face pages side by side and point out one difference in eyes, mouth or background on each.
Color balloons before the table
On a birthday sheet, finish the three big balloon faces first and save the candles and ribbons for later.
Make an expression row
Use the stacked face page to give each hat or pair of glasses a different color and describe the expressions.
Begin with a big face
One large smile floats among stars and hearts. A second sits below a rainbow with clouds and smaller hearts, and the third has a broad grin surrounded by little sparkles, hearts and clouds. The round faces give a child a clear starting area; the background symbols can be added afterward. Count the stars on one page or try different colors for the cheeks and rainbow. These are playful drawn expressions, not labels for a person’s mood. For more symbol-like faces, see the emoji coloring pages.
Look above the birthday table
Each birthday scene places three smiling balloons above a cake and gifts. One has a checked tablecloth and a short HAPPY BDAY banner; another adds children around the table beneath a larger BIRTHDAY banner; the third shows a decorated table below a HAPPY BIRTHDAY sign without children. The balloons are large, but the cake candles, gift ribbons, confetti and lettering are small. Color the balloon faces first, then choose a separate palette for the party below. The scenes suit a birthday card or a small party display when a child has time to finish several areas.
Follow a smiling sun outside
The sunny pages are full scenes rather than lone face circles. One sun shines over a garden path with flowers; a second watches two children flying a kite among trees and blossoms; a third sits above a winding park path with flower beds. Trace the path or kite string with a finger before coloring it. The many petals, leaves and grasses make these slower than the large-face pages. If a child wants more flowers to go with the sun, the flower coloring pages continue that part of the picture.
Meet the face characters
One page groups four faces wearing a party hat, cap, bow and glasses; one also has facial hair. Small candies and symbols float around them. Another picture makes a crowded party scene with funny expressions, balloons, music marks and a banner. The final picture stacks four faces vertically, each with different hats or glasses against a mostly blank background. Compare their eyes and mouths: some grin, one winks, and one has a sleepy look. Choose one accessory to color the same across the group, then let every face have its own expression. The heart coloring pages offer more bold shapes for a matching display.
Happy coloring!
Color one big grin first, then choose a balloon party, garden sun or stack of funny faces for a longer page. The backdrop changes how much time each smile takes.
