15 Solar System Coloring Pages: Playful Planets and Orbits Free printable PDF · color online
ForChildren who like cartoon space artFamilies discussing planets informallyColorers choosing between motifs and puzzles
These solar system coloring pages show smiling cartoon worlds, ringed planets, a rocket, an astronaut and a route-to-the-sun puzzle. The Earth drawing has recognizable land shapes, but the other striped and cratered circles are not labeled as specific planets. Use these as playful space pictures and conversation starters, then choose a science diagram elsewhere if you need real planet order or scale.

Ways to use these pages
Name an invented world
Choose an unlabeled striped planet, color its bands and give the character a made-up name.
Trace the route
Find START on the path sheet and follow the open way toward the sun with a finger.
Compare Earth
Place the Earth portrait beside a fantasy planet and point out which shapes resemble land.
Choose one world or a group
The opening sheet puts four different round worlds together, including a cartoon Earth with map-like land patches. Another group has four smiling planets, one with a broad ring. Later pages feature a single striped world, a spotted world and a ringed planet inside a scalloped border. Let a child decide whether to color one large surface or give each character in a group its own palette. A striped planet is not labeled Jupiter, and a ring alone does not name Saturn, so the colors can be invented. The space coloring pages offer more scenes beyond this planet-focused set.
Look at suns, stars and curved paths
One smiling sun sits inside concentric arcs with little planet faces around it; another wears sunglasses and has broad bands around it. A cratered smiling world appears inside similar rings. The arcs make repeating stripes that are enjoyable to color, but they are decorative, not an accurate map of solar-system distances or order. Trace one band with a finger before choosing a shade, then try a different color on the next. The many small stars are finishing details. For a page centered on our actual star, see the sun coloring pages.
Add a traveler to the story
A small astronaut floats across sweeping lines, while a rocket lifts off past ringed and striped worlds. Color the spacesuit or rocket fins first so the traveler stands apart from the background. Ask where the character might be going, but treat the picture as fiction: a rocket passing several large planets in one frame is a visual story, not a scale view. The rocket collection has more vehicle choices if that part draws the child in.
Try the route-to-the-sun puzzle
The activity sheet has START near the outside, REACH THE SUN near the center, and a curving maze between them. Follow the open route with a finger before coloring; a pencil can then mark the path without hiding the narrow turns. This is a game built from orbit-like circles, not a real spacecraft route. After the puzzle, compare it with the page that shows Earth inside a starry circle. A child can point to the land shapes on Earth and explain why that world is more recognizable than the unnamed fantasy planets.
Happy coloring!
Choose a single broad planet for a quick session, or use the rocket, astronaut and route puzzle for a longer space story.

Questions
Do these pictures label all eight planets?
No. Most are unnamed cartoon worlds. The Earth picture has recognizable land shapes, but this set does not teach planet order.
Are the orbit rings scientifically accurate?
No. They are decorative curved paths in playful art, not scale diagrams of planetary distances or trajectories.
Is there an activity page?
Yes. One sheet has a START-to-sun path puzzle with a curving route to trace before coloring.
Can I print an individual space picture?
Yes. Each sheet has its own PDF and online coloring option, and the matching book gathers the selected pictures.
